Antique suit of armor from Mid Edo period w/ Koshu Tokubetsu-Kicho Paper (2nd highest ranking) Certificate

A quality antique armor from mid Edo period (1700's). Cuirass consists of 6 divided iron plates finished with Tatakinuri or uneven brown lacquer and gold coating, and a beautiful Bonji Sanskrit characters relief. The Akoda style helmet is comprised of 12 separate iron plates, each with its own specific proportions. When joined, they result in the perfectly formed kabuto seen here. A great certificate comes with this item. The Koshu-Tokubetsu Kicho paper that is the 2nd ranking certificate among 5 certificates granted by The Association for the Research and Preservation of Japanese Helmets and Armor. (Top ranked certificate is just for a museum-class heritage item). The original storage box, display stand, and all pieces shown in the catalogue come with. Sleeves have some Kikyo metal crests (Chinese bellflower) known as a family symbol of some warlord clans including Akechi family.
